Tea with the Dames

'Tea with the Dames' (made for television under the title 'Nothing Like a Dame') has four British actors, all of them honoured with Damehoods, sitting around a table discussing their lives and careers.

The situation comes across as a little artificial but it is variously a humorous, revealing and sad reflection of four artists in the twilights of their careers. I don't think there are first time revelations but a bonus in the film comes with flashbacks to their youthful days; a reminder of how they appeared  at the height of their freshness and beauty.

  1. I suppose you read my kind of review of the movie. I loved it and I would give it 4.5 stars. It was funny, at times a little sad and best of all, it was about 90 minutes, the length movies should be. I do concede the situation was contrived, but that was kind of admitted by the set up at the beginning. While it won't go down as my favourite movie, it was just so enjoyable to watch.

    1. I didn't dislike the film Andrew but movie buff C had already told me nearly all the stories they related during the movie so that the spark of revelation wasn't there for me.
