Crossing the river

(Retrospective post)

Locals crossing the Zambezi River between Botswana and Zambia.

A bridge is being built alongside this crossing and is just visible in the background. It's completion will be a relief to the hundreds of truck drivers who have to queue currently for days and even weeks on either sides of the border in order to make the ferry crossing.

  1. It is odd that if the demand is there, there are not more ferries. Perhaps the bridge has been long promised and no one thought it was worth expanding the service or setting up another.

  2. I dont know the background Andrew but I guess that money is scarce and I’d bet that red tape on the continent is pretty pervasive especially when more than one national Government is a party to any development.
