Wartime Sydney

It was the Second World War but Sydney didn't seem to have a care in the world. Footage of Sydney and surrounds in 1940, taken by an unknown American tourist, recovered from a garage in California.

  1. The quality is quite good. It always strikes me when looking at old footage like this, how undisciplined pedestrians were.

Even back then, The Gap was known as suicide point. Lol at "Most Australian beaches are infested with man eating sharks". Love our cute teddy bears in the trees that never take a drink.

    1. Andrew, I was struck by the same things.
