I know I shouldn't throw stones.....
but......
last night on 'The Book Club' not one but two of the panelists managed similar tautologies.
One, a writer, referred to '6am in the morning'. The other, a teacher of creative writing no less, referred to '1am in the morning'.

Which is why they need editors to polish their work
ReplyDeleteI would suggest to you that when a writer writes, he or she is aware that a precise effort is required while communicating dialogue and narrative. This effort for a writer is at times intense and time consuming and therefore when he or she returns to the land of the living, a more lackadaisical approach to speaking, is also at times like a holiday from the job. Don't be too hard on them.

ReplyDeleteI don't know that I buy that, Tristan Blue, but I'm not a professional writer.
