Actually Radiance of the Seas is on Sydney Harbour at this moment. It was scheduled to depart last night at 6pm but has been delayed because of 'bad weather'. Wherever that bad weather is, it is not in Sydney.
All of this is most fortunate for any passengers aboard as the vessel appears now to be remaining for tonight's New Year's Eve fireworks. The vessel has had to move from its berth at the Overseas Terminal where it would block the view for hundreds of thousands of spectators and instead has anchored on the harbour off Point Piper and just down from my home.

How awful that the liner's departure is delayed. What are the poor passengers going to do stuck in the middle of Sydney Harbour on NYE? My brother set off on a cruise from Sydney on the 28th, Rhapsody of the Seas, I believe.
ReplyDeleteJust a question of fate, Andrew.
ReplyDeleteYour views of Sydney and the harbor are so inviting. If I ever hit the lottery, Sydney (and other parts of Australia) are high on my list of places to visit.
ReplyDeleteI am reminded of another ocean-going vessel that fared less well on New Year's Eve: the S.S. Poseidon. LOL
If I were a cynical man, wcs, I might think the Captain used an excuse to remain in port for Sydney's NYE fireworks.
ReplyDeleteThere is a cyclone, somewhere in the big blue Pacific. One has to feel for Point Piper residents who had their view of the fireworks blocked by the ship. Nah, dun really care. They can pay to be somewhere.
ReplyDeleteEvidently the weather in the Pacific has improved conveniently following the fireworks. The liner is departing Sydney as I type.
