City action

On the bus headed for home yesterday we were delayed at Hyde Park North by protestors against that infamous video insulting Islam. Looking through graffiti streaked windows of the bus these parked police vehicles were the first indicators of the action.

  1. A bus Victor? What are you doing travelling on a bus through riots. A Manly ferry is acceptable, some of the nicest people do that, but a bus? Really!

  2. Well Andrew I know you think of me as a Malcolm Turnbull toff but I do travel by public transport quite often.

Having arrived at Circular Quay by ferry the obvious connection home to Edgecliff is the bus. Little did I know when I boarded it on Saturday that we were headed into a riot.

  3. Must have been scary. It makes me wonder how delicate our peaceful society really is and how very little it would take to tip the balance.

  4. Victor,
Was it scary? I ask because the two chaps on the pavement do not seem to be particularly scared, and despite the lurid coverage, I understand the violence was pretty localised.

  5. It wasn't scary for us in the bus, marcellous. When we were a bit further up from where I took this pic we could see across into Hyde Park North where it appeared the police had the demonstrators corralled at the time.
