'...Beware of his heart of gold...'*

(* Theme from 'Goldfinger' by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley)
(Sean Connery, Shirley Eaton and Ian Fleming)

'Goldfinger' is screening on television tonight. It was released in 1964, a mere forty-six years ago! I must have been 15 or 16 when I saw it which I recall was against significant disapproval from my parents who thought I was far too young to be exposed to such adult racy material. The movie appears exceedingly tame tonight.

Sean Connery wears the pale blue terry towelling number (above) in an early scene set by a Miami hotel swimming pool. Presumably the audiences of the day were impressed by Connery's manly James Bond straightness but tonight the outfit looks more 'fetching' than straight and totally gay.

Bond sweety! James Bond!

  1. What a great picture!! And I agree--today that robe looks totally gay. So interesting how those changes happen.
