I checked a blog I read regularly yesterday and found the message
Blog has been removed
Sorry, the blog at xxxxxx.blogspot.com has been removed.
What has happened? Has someone at Google arbitrarily removed the blog? If so, why?
Even more perplexing and sometimes hurtful is the message that tells me a blog I have been reading regularly for months is suddenly available by invitation only and apparently I am not invited. And I don't know why?
I have seen that twice Victor. I guess it means that the owner has deleted the blog, but only a guess.
ReplyDeleteWell, Victor, blogging is really a kind of "glory-hole" method of communication. You don't really know the person on the other side, and they can block up the hole or pull back from it whenever they like. Sometimes they decide to stop doing that sort of thing. You can do the same.
ReplyDeleteAs for the password thing, my theory is that that tends to happen when events bring things too close to the bone, or where a blogger worries that someone from the real (ie, non-virtual; face to face) world will blow their cover or be offended by something which has already been written - in some cases, the online equivalent of running into somebody from the office.
Glory hole communication! Terrific analogy.
ReplyDeleteAndrew/Marcellous - I'm probably taking it a bit too personally.
How rude! I hate when that happens. I always take it personally.
ReplyDeleteSuspects maybe he's still about somewhere suffering a crisis, wondering why he deleted his blog and all his web profiles, looking on, deciding, wondering what the hell it's all about, why do it, find something else to do, system crashed 2nd time in 2 months, all work sheets (and porn dammit)lost, lots of reasons.
ReplyDeleteTake nothing on the web personally, check out some guy that can borethearseoff.blogspot.com yah....hugz stud....
Whilst you may not be referring to me I will say that I recently amended my blog to "invitation only" and the reason I did - I mistakenly deleted all of my blog photos from the Picassa web album. I thought that because I had saved my images on to my hard drive then that was enough. Obviously not. It took me about 5 days to re-upload 18 months worth. Hence the reason I switched mine off.
