Entering Namibia

(Retrospective post)

Entering Namibia required us to pass through an Immigration Office by the Zambezi River. This small office, also the local Police Station, was reached by a walk of about 200 metres along a sandy trail. It was very hot, high 30ºs and the sun beat down on us. As we wondered if we would ever reach the office, a helpful sign provided hope.

And a short distance later this even more encouraging sign.

The small office was not big enough for all sixteen of us. so we queued in the sun for our turn. A single Immigration officer, identified by the word Immigration on his plain white Polo top, checked our Immigration forms and stamped our Passports. In the room behind sat four Police Officers watching a television. The sounds from the television sounded suspiciously like daytime soap operas.

Passports stamped, we returned in the heat of day to the river where our tenders took us to our next accommodation, the Zambezi Queen.
